Carolina hasn't really been on the map since 2001 when Petey Pablo dropped Diary of Sinner: First Entry. Do you think you need to put Carolina back on the map?
I feel like Carolina is on the map. I'm actually out and about across the country in the major cities and in the faces of these artists that know of and respect Carolina to the fullest so yes, we're on the map for sure! Plus I'm said to be the very best new rap artist without an album out so that helps too I think.
Def Jam is iconic do you feel overwhelmed when you have L.A. Reid and Jay-Z as your bosses?
I feel like I'm just the same as these guys are. I'm in the position to do the same things they've done and are doing so it's my job to carry the torch. I think I'll handle the greater things to come well. I have a big advantage because I'm from a place where the big "it" hasn't happened Hip Hop wise yet so stay tuned. We'll see how the story begins when my album "World Premiere" hits stores.
" Neva Before" was like a breath fresh air in this overwhelming market of coke rap. Do think it is important to show different sides of the struggle?
It's very important. Who likes a 1 dimensional artist? Who likes a 1 dimensional anything? lol
You and Ludacris recorded "Mr. Magnificent" how did that song come about?
My manager P.K. came to the studio with a track from rising Producer Khao from Alabama . I heard it, told them to leave the room, and 30mins later they came back to hear the best verse they thought i'd ever spit. Little did they know, that was my signature style of rap. The verse was so big that they sent the song out to writters to try and get a big hook for it. Long story short, Jay-Z and L.A. Reid loved my hook. We added Luda and the rest is history. We now have "Mr Magnificent".
Is that the official single from "World Premiere"?
As of now, yes. The songs purpose is to show the masses what I mean and have always meant to Raleigh , NC and NC period. This is history. This is divine so I have to show that. I have so many different types of songs so for all of you who are starving for what some call real hip hop, "Mr. Mag" is here for you.
What can we expect to hear on "World Premiere"?
Me! I've always been a trend setter and true representation of modern day Raleigh , NC so that's what you'll get. Besides my swaggar always being at new heights, there's also pain, passion, humility, growth, inspiration, love...it's all there in "World Premiere". I give all of me on this album and leave fans hungry for more after every song.
Do you have date for your album release?
1st quarter is all mine.
You recorded one the best mixtapes of the year with Don Cannon "World Domination" is this going to be an ongoing series?
One of the best? That means the world to me to hear that so thanks! But Cannon and I are really into the type of music I do so I think this will be the start of a great chemistry between the two of us. Look out for the "World Premiere Pre-quel" hosted Don Cannon just before the album drops! Crazy!!!
What's your last word to your fans?
